Clasps These clasps are what evolved from a fantastic workshop with Kate McKinnon (see the links.) I've patterned them in my own way, though, and feature them as side clasps on my necklaces. They're made of PMC (precious metal clay), a material patented by Mitsubishi, consisting of submicroscopic particles of fine silver embedded in an organic matrix that permits it to be worked just like porcelain. When the piece is fired, the binder burns off, and you're left with pure silver. Some are given a patina for drama and interest, some left the brightest silver. Because of the purity of the silver, they hardly ever tarnish. |
