HP-UX Technical Basic release 5.0 disc Part No. 82860-12009 (c) Copyright 1984, Hewlett-Packard Co. This disc contains all the necessary files for the HP-UX technical Basic to run on the IPC with HP-UX version 1.0.0 and 5.0. The following lists the files on this disc (note that if you intend to run basic from some other file system you must copy all of these files). basic - The Basic interpreter itself. load_hpgl - Load the HPGL driver so Basic CRT graphics is enabled. (needed for HP-UX version 1.0.0 only) hpgl.data - The HPGL driver. (needed for HP-UX version 1.0.0 only) load_rt - Load the realtime driver. (needed for HP-UX version 1.0.0 only) rt.data - The realtime driver. (needed for HP-UX version 1.0.0 only) hpib.b. - The HPIB driver. serial.b. - The serial card driver. gpio.b. - The GPIO card driver. bcd.b. - The BCD card driver. os_nam.1.0.0 - Addresses needed in the OS. Must be with any driver you wish to load. (needed for HP-UX version 1.0.0 only) os_nam.5.0.0 - Addresses needed in the OS. Must be with any driver you wish to load. (needed for HP-UX version 5.0 only) hpibpatch - The patch for the HP-UX version 5.0 system HPIB driver. (needed for HP-UX version 5.0 only) CAUTION: HP-UX version 1.0.0 users !!! The realtime extensions should be loaded prior to bringing up Basic. If this is not done interrupts may corrupt the integrity of the system causing a reboot to be required. The realtime driver contains the required realtime extensions and is loaded by executing load_rt. The Basic HPIB driver defaults to the request-for-data-handshake- holdoff mode. This will cause ANY mass storage access over the builtin HPIB interface to error off if the internal HPIB interface is used by Basic. To allow the mass storage access to complete successfully the request-for-data-handshake-holdoff mode must be turned off. It can be turned off by setting the control register 7 of the HPIB register to 0 and turned back on by setting it to 1. This must be done for ANY mass storage access over the builtin HPIB interface whether from Basic or otherwise. Program example: 10 ASSIGN 7 TO "hpib" ! assigns 7 to the internal HPIB 20 ! 30 control 7,7;0 ! turn off handshake hold off 40 ! 50 ! mass storage access over HPIB done here 60 ! such as cat, load, store, get or save 70 ! to or from an external disc 80 ! 90 control 7,7;1 ! turn on handshake hold off
