     Introduction
     ------------
     This disc contains files which may be of use to you for optional equipment
     and application software available for the HP Integral PC.  Also included
     are some simple upgrade procedures for application s/w you may have
     purchased from HP for the earlier operating system release
     (HP-UX/RO 1.0.0).  Hewlett-Packard has made every attempt to make
     this operating system upgrade as easy and natural as possible.  Most
     application discs will run "as is" without need for change.  Also
     included are HP-UX Operating System enhancements and a subdirectory of
     contributed utilities.  The contributed utilities includes a variety of
     fun and useful programs.  For more details regarding the contributed
     utilities see the README file in the /System/contrib folder.

     Contents
     --------
     A set of loadable s/w drivers and operating system enhancements are
     provided on this disc.  The following is a list of the files found
     on this disc relating to supported programs or operating system
     enhancements.

	Autost		      An Autost script.  This is a simple Autost
			      routine which may be modified to suit your
			      individual needs.

        load_modem            Program used to load the s/w driver for the
                              82915A 300/1200 bps Modem Card.  load_modem
			      requires the data file modem.data for proper
			      execution.

        modem.data            Data file for the `load_modem' program.

        load_modem.doc        Manual page for `load_modem' utility.  Located
                              in `documents' folder.

        load_plot             Program used to load the s/w driver for HP
                              plotters connected through the Serial Interface.
                              For use with the OS Release 5.0.0 ROM set only.
			      Note that all applications which use serial
			      plotters will work regardless of whether this
			      enhancement is effected.  However running the
			      load_plot program can result in performance
			      improvements when using a serial plotter.
			      load_plot reuires the data file plot.data to
			      properly execute.

        plot.data             Data file for the `load_plot' program.

        load_plot.doc         Manual page for `load_plot' utility.  Located
                              in `documents' folder.

	load_hpgl	      Program to correct a defect in the HPGL window
			      type.  This program effectively corrects a minor
			      defect in the PR (plot relative) HPGL command
			      when it is sent to a plotter emulator window.
			      load_hpgl depends on the related files hpgl.data,
			      dload, and hp-ux.5.0.0 to properly execute.

	hpgl.data	      Data file for the 'load_hpgl" program.

	load_hpgl.doc	      Documentation for the load_hpgl program.  Located
                              in `documents' folder.

	dload		      Program that is used by the 'load_hpgl" program.

	hp-ux.5.0.0	      Data file for the 'load_hpgl' program.

	prep_sys_5.0	      Program to correct minor defects in the HP-UX OS
			      Release 5.0.0 for the Integral PC.

	prep_sys.doc	      Document detailing the defects corrected by
			      prep_sys_5.0. This file is found in the documents
			      folder.

	documents	      Folder including more detailed documents
			      regarding the Operating System enhancements found
			      on this disc.

	contrib		      Folder including useful utilities and games.


     Operation
     ---------
     Programs on this disc whose names are prefixed with `load_' effect
     enhancements in the HP-UX/RT Operating System.  Each can be executed
     by simply typing the program name to PAM, or by highlighting the program
     name and pressing [Start] (ie., the key [f1]).  Each program will create
     a window and indicate when the loading operation is complete and the
     driver is ready for use.

     All manual pages have the suffix `.doc' .  Manual pages can viewed or
     printed by using the PAM view or print command, or by simply directing the
     manual page to the printer (e.g., 'load_modem.doc >/dev/lp').

     Copying Files
     -------------
     Although, the `load_...' utilities can be used directly from this
     disc, you may find it useful to copy them to other discs depending
     upon your application.  This is easily accomplished by using the copy
     command in PAM.  When copying a 'load_..."  utility, be sure to also
     copy the appropriate data file.  For example, to copy the software
     for the modem card to a new disc, you must copy both the `load_modem'
     and the `modem.data' files. The manual page for each utility lists the
     associated files required for that utility to operate.  The manual page
     file, itself, need not be copied.

     DATACOMM and MODEM Product Upgrade
     ----------------------------------
     The DATACOMM disc which comes with the MODEM product contains loadable
     s/w drivers for both the SERIAL and MODEM cards.  The HP-UX/RO 5.0 release
     contains the serial driver in ROM, thus no change is required for SERIAL
     card users.  The MODEM driver, however, which is supplied on this disc has
     been upgraded to operate with both operating system releases, (version 1.0
     and version 5.0).  To upgrade your DATACOMM disc for modem, copy the
     `load_modem' and `modem.data' files to your working DATACOMM disc. Then
     proceed as normal.  See "Copying Files" discussion immediately above.
