Cardamom and Nutmeg-Flavored Baked Custard
Ingredients
- 2 Q whole milk
- 1 C sugar
- 1 tsp ground cardamom
- .5 tsp grated nutmeg
- .5 C slivered almonds
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- Cooking spray
- 6 large eggs, lightly beaten
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Procedure
- Boil milk in sauce pan stirring frequently. Once it boils, lower heat to medium. Boil until it reduces by half, 30-35 min.
- Remove from heat, stir in sugar, cardamom, nutmeg, almonds, and vanilla.
- Let cool until lukewarm.
- Mix in eggs
- Grease custard cups and pour in custard.
- Place in baking tray with water half way up the cups.
- Bake at 350 until a knife inserted in the custard comes out clean and the tops still jiggle. About 20 to 30 min.
