Cardamom and Nutmeg-Flavored Baked Custard

Ingredients

  • 2 Q whole milk
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • .5 tsp grated nutmeg
  • .5 C slivered almonds
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray
  • 6 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • Vanilla ice cream (optional)

Procedure

  1. Boil milk in sauce pan stirring frequently. Once it boils, lower heat to medium. Boil until it reduces by half, 30-35 min.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in sugar, cardamom, nutmeg, almonds, and vanilla.
  3. Let cool until lukewarm.
  4. Mix in eggs
  5. Grease custard cups and pour in custard.
  6. Place in baking tray with water half way up the cups.
  7. Bake at 350 until a knife inserted in the custard comes out clean and the tops still jiggle. About 20 to 30 min.
