Burmese Style Rice

Ingredients

  • 6 C uncooked rice
  • 9 medium onions, sliced
  • 3 tbsp Turmeric
  • 1 C olive oil
  • 4 Qt water
  • 3 tbsp salt

Directions

  1. Sprinkle onions with turmeric and saute in oil until brown but not burned.
  2. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  3. Add rice to pan and stir to mix with remaining oil. Allow to brown slightly.
  4. Add water and salt and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes
  6. Serve rice topped with onion slices.
