Béchamel Sauce
Ingredients
- 4 C milk
- 2 bay leaves
- 1/2 tsp allspice berries
- 8 tbsp butter
- 1 C all-purpose flour
- 3 tbsp grated parmesian
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
Procedure
- Heat the milk, bay leaves, and all spice in a saucepan over low heat.
- Melt the butter in another saucepan, then add the flour and whisk for about 5 minutes until combined.
- Slowly ladle the hot milk into the four mixture (discarding bay leaves and allspice).
- Whisk constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from head.
- When slightly cooled, stir in the cheese and nutmeg.
